16 SATURDAY, JUNE 20, 2009 Obituaries Rev. Canon Joseph N. Leo II Rev. Canon Joseph Newton Leo passed away quietly in his sleep Tuesday morning, June 9, 2009 in Chagrin Falls, Ohio. For more than 55 years, Rev.

Leo faithfully served Episcopal churches in Pennsylvania and Ohio. He spent the last 25 years serving the Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem. Joe's life of service included working as a marriage counselor, Justice of the Peace and District Court Justice in Easton. Survivors: Joe is survived by his wife, Martha Leo of Easton; brother, The Very Reverend James Leo of Cincinnati, Ohio; sister, Janice Davidson of Lindale, N.J.; daughters, Liz Beekman and Pat of Charlotte, N.C., Sue Parry and Rich of Girdwood, Mary Bourisseau and John of Bentleyville, Ohio, Ruth Mount and Collins of Chugiak, son, Joseph N. Leo Ill of Maineville, Ohio; 12 grandchildren.

Services: A memorial service will be held for Joe in the Cathedral Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem on Tuesday, June 23 at 2 p.m. The family will have a private internment in Philadelphia Memorial Park prior to the service at the Cathedral in Bethlehem. Born on August 23, 1943 in Easton, he was a son of the late Ralph T. and Jennie (Stimeare) Vandever. Ted was employed as a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, Palmer Township retiring in 2000 after 28 years of service. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and Moravian College, where he earned his master's degree.

Ted served in the Coast Guard. Survivors: Ted is survived by his daughter, Shawnee R. Burke of Bethlehem; his aunt, Lucille Siegel of Easton. Services: Calling hours will be held on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. in the Morello Funeral Home 3720 Nicholas Palmer Township.

Andre, 81, formerly of Pleasant Valley, died Thursday in St. Luke's Hospital, Fountain Hill.

For 19 years, he worked as a transportation manager for the former A Meat Packing Company, Allentown. After the closing of the company, Mr. Andre worked in the same job for the Palisades School District and then later for the Levy Bus Company. During this time, he and his wife, Janet, owned and operated a furniture refinishing business called The Wood Place, Pleasant Valley. He was born April 20, 1928 in Stan Hope, N.J., a son of the late J.

William and Winifred (Kresge) Andre. He was an active member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Pleasant Valley and was an adult education teacher and member of the consistory of the church. He was a member of the Quakertown Kiwanis Club and for many years served as chairman of the Pennsylvania Heart Fund for the Kiwanis. He was a 1946 graduate of Springfield Township High School and a 1950 graduate of Penn State University. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War and a graduate of the Officer Candidate School and the National War College.

He served as first lieutenant where he commanded a platoon and was given a field promotion to captain. He was a recipient of the Silver Star medal. Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Janet, of 57 years; three children, Michelle Hoover and her husband, Peter, of Bolton, Bradley Andre and his wife, Geraldine, of Coopersburg and Meredith Renner and her husband, Howard, of Langhorne; five grandchildren, Sarah, Rebecca, Laura, Chad and Brooke; two sisters, Lillian Strawn of Riegelsville and Janice Simms of Danielsville. He was preceded in death by a son, Todd, a grandson, Andrew, and a brother, Richard. Services: memorial, will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 in Trinity United Church of Christ, Pleasant Valley a at 10 a.m.

Conahan, 82, of Jack M. Raymond Jack M. Raymond, 87, of Lower Macungie Township, died Thursday, June 18, 2009. He was the husband of Janet (Leh) Raymond. They were married for 51 years in January.

Born in Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Clarence J. and Ada (Smith) Raymond. Jack graduated for Erie Academy, attended the University of Toledo and the University of Missouri. A member of the Army Air Corps, he served as a pilot in the South Pacific during World War II. He came to Allentown as a district manager for Erie Insurance Company, eventually opening his own agency.

He was active in establishing the tennis program at Lehigh Country Club, while serving on their board of governors. He was a member of Christ Lutheran Church in Allentown, and formerly served on the church vestry. Survivors: Wife; sons: Jack M. Raymond, Jr. of Underhill, Peter Leh Raymond and his wife Katherine S.

Her life was full of triumphs joyful occasions and of a few heartbreaks which she never let it show or worry her. Wilkes-Barre died Thursday with his family at his side. Born 10 August 1926 in Bethlehem he was a son of the late Francis J. and Anna Barager Conahan. Jim was a 1944 graduate of Bethlehem Catholic High School and earned his bachelor's degree from Moravian College in 1952. After high school he joined the Marine Corps and served our country during World War Il and the Korean Conflict in the Pacific Theater and China.

Following his war service, Jim was employed for twenty-two years by Metropolitan and Provident Mutual life insurance com panies. In 1953, he and the former Clare Dickert celebrated their wedding and started their family together. They moved to WilkesBarre in 1959 and Jim started his career in public service as Administrator of Housing and Rehabilitation and, in 1981, was named director of the Office for Community Development. In 1986, he was named City Administrator, serving until 1988, at which time he returned to the Office of Community Development. He retired from Wilkes-Barre City government in 1989 and returned to the private workforce to become credit manager for Eastern Insurance Group of Wilkes-Barre until his retirement.

In the 1950s, he was the alumni athletic director for Bethlehem Catholic High School and was a Past Grand Knight of the Knights of Columbus Trinity Council. Above all else, Jim was committed to his family. His wife died 3 January 1998 and a brother, Joseph, also preceded him in death. Survivors: Six children, Mary Ann King of WilkesBarre, Joan and her husband, Jim Finn of WilkesBarre, Patricia and her husband, Crawford McFerran of York, Frank J. and his wife, Lorraine Conahan of Cleveland, Ohio, Carol and her husband, Don Gaetano of State College and James and his wife, Renee Conahan of WilkesBarre; two sisters, Sr.

Mary Conahan of the Medical Mission Sisters of Fox Chase and Frances Bender of Bethlehem.He was immensely proud of his fourteen grandchildren and three dren. Services: Funeral will be held Monday at 9 a.m. from McLaughlin Family Funeral Service, 142 South Washington Street, Wilkes-Barre with Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. in Church of Saint Mary of the Immaculate Conception. Perez Sr. Vincent F. "Vinny" Perez 53, of Bethlehem, died Thursday, June 18, 2009 in the Hospice of the V.N.A. of St. Luke's, Bethlehem, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 6, 1955 in Bethlehem, he was the son of Josephine (Garza) and Pedro Perez. He was married to Donna Marie (Angerman) Perez with whom he celebrated 23 years of marriage last September. Vincent graduated from Freedom High School in 1973. After graduating Vincent began his career working with the city of Bethlehem for 33 years in the water department retiring in 2007. Vinny was very active in his children's lives.

He was the equipment manager for the Bethlehem Steelers. He coached CYO Basketball at Holy Infancy. Vincent played in various softball, baseball and basketball leagues in the area. He was active in several social clubs and organizations in Bethlehem. Vinny used to volunteer his time to bartend at the oldies dances at Holy Infancy.

He loved to bowl, golf and fish. Vincent was also a diehard Philly fan, especially the Eagles, Phillies and 76ers. Survivors: He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Donna Marie, of Bethlehem; son, Vincent Perez of Bethlehem, who will be leaving in September to join the Navy, making his dad very proud; daughter, Vanessa Perez of Bethlehem; parents, Pedro and Josephine Perez of Bethlehem; brother, Robert Perez and his wife, Terese, of Bethlehem; sister, Janet Fetherholf, wife of Richard, of Tallahassee, half brother, Pedro Perez in Puerto Rico; half sister, Milagros "Millie" Rivera and her husband, Oscar, of Bethlehem; nephews, Pedro and Richard; nieces, Rachel his goddaughter, Jaquelyn, Cecilia, Yvonne his goddaughter and Olivia; godson, Miguel Perez Jr. Services: A viewing will held on Monday, June 22, 2009 in Connell Funeral Home 245 E.
